New, Old Friends?!

Lets just say I'm not use to having Saturday nights in the house, but I never had any plans and my friend invited me down for a game of scat with her, her boyfriend, and her four grandparents. So, I opened up my options on a acceptable saturday and thats how I ended up having a grand ol' time on three dollars!

I'm not quite sure how it happened but let me just say she ended up with two of the funniest grandfathers ever. The whole night they were picking on me and it was hilarious. Her grandmother offered me a glass of green apple wine, I accepted, it was delicious by the way. Yes, I know drinking twice in one week doesn't really go well with trying to quit drinking but I have a new theory. Which I will attempt to explain below.

Types of Drinking:

1. Drinking to get drunk. - It is exactly how it sounds.

2. Having a social drink. - not to get a buzz, outdo others, gain personality or even to help be more social. It's to simply have a drink in a small social setting.

(LOL)

When I say, have a social drink, I don't mean fifty social drinks. I mean everyone's having a drink and someone offers you a drink, you say yes and that's the end of it. This journey of mine is about finding a reasonable limit. Even tho I drank twice that week I was ok with the amount and the reason why, and I didn't feel one bit guilty.

...Later on that night...

Not actual photo, but similar idea, only it was night and stormy.

My SO (significant other) showed up after scat and we went for a snowmobile ride with my family over to the cabin. Which, I hate doing because I don't believe it's even slightly necessary for everyone to get wasted and drive high powered machinery, in the dead middle of Canadian winter, with no means of communication, and the nearest town being a twenty minute skidoo cruise away. Anyways, I went and was offered beer plenty of time but I didn't accept any of the offers, and imagine this I had a great time, minus alcohol! Can't even say how proud of myself I am.

Happy Birthday you Fabulous Bitch!

Excuses, excuses

So, on Friday it was my best friends birthday and all she wanted was to go to the bar and get sloshed on booze! Normally I'd turn down the invitation, the bar scene isn't my thing right now.
But! let me tell you one thing about this girl, me and her we've been through thick and thin she's had my back through it all and she's not the type of friend who's going to laugh at me for trying to cut back on booze, she's actually one of the people who made me realize I have a drinking problem and has helped me get through it with a bunch of crazy sober nights doing yoga and working out! SO with that said, if my best friend wants birthday drinks on her birthday, guess what "Cheers!".
In the end, I didn't do too badly, for pre-drinks I had two glasses of wine, one beer. At the bar I had two beer and four shots (shots will be the ruination of us all).

Thanks Ashley for being my Ho-Mance!

Omy..

I feel defeated.

I honestly feel like giving it all up.

So, I had this really big post all wrote up took me a few hours to write up this blog post and my kid goes along and deletes everything. So mad, it's beyond mad, I'm soooo upset with her. It wasn't even just blog posts the was so much important shit on the iPad it's how I run my life. She deleted everything. So, this is it.

Went drinking Saturday. Later if I'm not too irritated about losing my life's work I might write a better post.

Peace out!

HEDLEY concert anyone?

First let me apoligize for not posting last week, here's my update.

I broke some rules.

So, I went out on Saturday night to a Hedley concert with some of my girls! The concert was amazing, the not so amazing part, the drinks, I tried to keep to a minimum. It's hard with the pre-drinks, the drinks at the concert, the drinks before the bar, then you have the drinks at the bar. A lot of pressure.
I'm actually very proud of myself, I refrained from strong drinks, never took any shots and only bought 6 beer for the hotel, one at the concert. That's amazing for me!
I wasn't surprised when I found myself forgetting about the 30 minute wait at the bar and decided instead to talk to people and dance with friends!

Hot Chocolate Anyone!

Wait where'd all my friend go?

Week 2: OK so it's amazing how many friends you can manage to loose from simply not drinking. I decided this weekend I wouldn't drink alcohol, at all! Not to my surprise friends haven't came around much. So, first off went sledding to a few cabins with the man, at one cabin I was actually told that I should get myself a beer because apparently I was contrary. Umm, oops. I wasn't actually mad at all I was having a great time up until that comment. Oh well. One friend, I guess, won't be around my contrary ass when I'm sober! I even turned down my friend for drinks at the bar, I told her I'd go for company but, I wasn't drinking and she said "oh well I'll let you know", guess what!? She never did get back to me on that. Then I decided to pick up yoga as a way to spend time with another friend that's going well. It's nice to have a non drinking activity to occupy my weekend. But, on another note, guess how much I've seen of my boyfriend, who actively drinks I might mention, ZERO! Haven't seen him right in a few days. What'd I do today you might ask! Well I went for a family boil up in the  woods my usual beer was switched up with some hot chocolate! Much tastier!

My Journey on the Road to RECOVERY

Oh my here we go...

So alcoholism as everyone knows is a growing problem with this generations youth, i can 'blah-blah' all day about health risks, my concerns, all that crap, but if your reading this then you probably have some idea what I'm talking about. So, lets skip to the fun part.

The journey or what I'm looking to achieve. I simply want to get to a point where I can be happy with myself, either with or without booze. That's not a bad goal if you think about it. I just want to be happy with my substance abuse. I clearly have issues.

The Confession : I am a Alcoholic. The first step? Is it really admitting you have a problem? I think the logic here is flawed. Admitting it hasn't really gotten me anywhere so far. But I'm gonna play by the rules so there is that one.

The Story or my version of how I got here, quite literally sometimes, I have in fact wondered after a good (or is it bad) drinking binge "How in the hell did I get here?". Yes, tho a part of my back story just so you can gain a understanding about my particular role in said substance abuse. If you don't want to hear it or don't care... GET OFF MY BLOG! My name is Natalia, I've been drinking since before I can remember and I have a drinking problem/addiction... (lol)

It started before I was even born. I was born into a family of drunks just like everyone else on the island of Newfoundland. Pretty sure I didn't get a choice I was bound to drink, living with and around these people, whom I love dearly and don't judge. :)
My first beer.. I was maybe 6 or 7. That sound's bad but I was a nineties child and parents were wild back then. My mother is great tho. She is the best despite all the crappy parenting decisions I blame none of this on her.
Going back before the first beer I sometimes like to blame my teenage drinking on post trauma from when my moms boyfriend use to knock us around. So, we have that, I just wanted to throw that out there. Another thing is my 'dad', who is actually not my biological father hes actually just my moms best friend, a alcoholic who use to sleep on our couch, I don't actually know my biological father. I know what your thinking, boo-hoo another chick with daddy issues, get in fricking line. NO shut up, no issues here. I love my dad. He's my inspiration, WHY? because after plenty of years of drinking he successfully kicked all of his bad habits, quit the booze, turned to god, and now has an amazing career, company, and a big, healthy, growing family!
A little farther ahead, I lived in this small town my whole life, growing up around here was soooo BORING, me and my friend Kim were maybe 10, and I have the notes and diary to prove this, I shit you not, we would save up money all week so we could buy a half box of beer on Friday. We'd drink two each and get so hammered.
I could go on and on about a shitty teenage life and bad choices and how sad and morbid my life was but I don't feel like telling it as I'm sure many don't want to hear it. Everyone reading this is like 'would you hurry the hell up and just get to the point!' I promise you I'm getting there, just hold on by' (lol) Moving on!
In the here and now, I pretty much go out every weekend and get drunk on Friday and Saturday sometimes I also drink on Thursday and Sunday.
I feel like I can't go without the beer. I only see my friends when I'm out and about drinking with them that's pretty much all anyone does. Every social event is just another reason to booze it up, the mere thought of not drinking at a social outing, to people around here, is unbelievable, they'll say I'm pregnant, acting childish, or that I'm no longer fun to be around. I hate the nay sayers and the no friends when I'm not drinking, that's a big reason I drink constantly. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but that's just how I feel.

The How/What as in how this blog will work and what I'm going to do. So, the main idea is to give weekly updates on how my recovery is going, I guess a progression chart of sorts in blog form, if there is progression that is. It will be the good, bad and ugly. I want to post about my hangovers, how much I drank, stupid crap I done or said and most importantly why I want to recover. I am, despite what many think, taking this serious. I want to be better. A better alcoholic or even a better person. I believe there can be moderation in my drinking habits, I think I can drink a beer now and then and not fall off the bandwagon. I just want this to work. Here's to drinking in moderation. At the end of this Journey I want to come back to this and realize how right I was not how wrong. I guess we shall find out, which brings us to the next order of business....

The Pledge I pledge that by the end of this year I will be a better person. I don't want to commit to stopping drinking completely, just in healthy moderation. I pledge to be faithful to my blog, posting once a week. I pledge to put myself and my family before the booze and friends.

I can do this!

Week 1: This weekend I didn't have a beer on Thursday like I usually do, my man did however drink a beer. Which I should have mentioned earlier he is a big beer drinker. We like to enjoy a beer with our show on Thursday nights. Like any bad habit, this is part of my weekly routine. I did however drink Friday night, It's amazing how right now in my hungover state on Sunday that I can't actually remember what I did on Friday. After what seems like forever thinking, I did drink a lot on Friday it was a friends 50th birthday/supper I played poker pool with a bunch of men (and my man) suffice it to say I like to give them a run for their money when it comes to drinking around them. I get this sense of pride if I can out drink people. A therapist would have a field day with me. On Saturday i went on a skidoo run, I took one palm bay in my pocket, I said I wouldn't drink that day except for the palm bay and I said I wouldn't end up at the bar. I did both. I found it hard to be at all those cabins with all those people drinking around me. I had several beer then ended up at a local bar drinking alone for a bit, then I went home, planning to stay in, until my friend invited me down, we drank a full bottle of champagne, played Yahtzee, and I don't remember going home. I do however remember cooking KD and onion rings when I got here. I feel like shit today. Typical hangover, headache, mouth tastes like ass, shakes, achy, memory loss, appetite loss and trouble thinking or forming thought. Overall NOT A GOOD WEEK. I want to do better! I WILL do better next week. Tune in Sunday for my next update. Happy Healing Everybody!

MY top 21 MEN of 2013

So, I'm faceboking, as usual, and I'm seeing these list top 50 hottest, top 20 hottest, etc. I'm thinking, who makes these lists!?!? and how do I correct them (lol), so I've decided to make a list of my own.

Why 21 instead of 20? Because i couldn't choose anyone who didn't deserve to be on this list, that's why. Dammit!

To start let me just say, this is in NO particular order. This is a lis of guys I've personally picked out. If you're looking to see where Justin Bieber places, MOVE ALONG, this is a womans list, not a 14 year old girls or a popularity contest. Also, on a side note, it's slightly biased in a way that if you haven't watched TWD you can't comment on how hot you think or don't think Daryl Dixon, actor Norman Reedus, is or isn't.

1. Brad Pitt , I'm sorry but at 50 and after watching World War Z, let me tell you this daddy still got it (and then some) he's the whole package.

2. Gerard Butler , Let's see 300, The ugly Truth, Bounty Hunter, we aren't playing around here. Umm, wait did I mention he's scottish?! The highander book junkie in me, just swooned.

3. Jake Gyllenhaal , what can I say he's a gorgeous heart throb with a bunch of famous ex's! I'm addicted to his charm and quiet demeanor.

4. Joseph Morgan , He's the lead role in The CW's The Originals, playing bad boy Niklaus Mikaelson! Has great taste for fine things like art and a good book. Not to mention that english accent. YUMM

5. Prince Harry , Sorry I had to! A small part of me still wants to be a princess. He's 29, served in the afghan war, front line, and well did you see his GQ photo shoot!

6. Justin Timberlake , 32, started in the mickey mouse club and guess what hes still BINGING SEXY BACK (cheese alert), hes overall good actor, singer dancer (swoon). and who doesn't love watching him on SNL with Jimmy.

7. Norman Reedus , more famously known as Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead! Eeek my hero! He loves motorcycles and boy does he make killing walkers look like fun. Sign me up!

8. Joseph Gordon-Levitt , who doesn't love a man in a good suit? Not to mention his Don Jon role. He's charming, smart, he's a proclaimed feminist, and with the way he talks about true love! Yeah, he makes my list.

9. James Franco , actor, director, screenwriter, producer, teacher, author and last but not least sex symbol! He played James Dean for goodness sake's! He's got it all, and now he's got a spot on my list! ;)

10. Ryan Gosling , charity work, smoldering good looks and I just can't get enough of him and Emma Stones on camera romances. I'll admit I had a hard time choosing between his photos for this one. Gosh he's so fine.

11. Zac Efron , since high school musical hes taken on plenty of romantic roles! I love his bright blue eyes and he has a smile to die for! How could I not put him on my list. He's Gorgeous.

12. Pharrell Williams , his voice melts my soul honestly, not to mention there's something to be said for a man who knows his fashion. He's a creative force with distinctive style. The ladies love him!

13. Leonardo Dicaprio , I don't even have to explain myself on this one! It is what it is you all know why he's here. Nominated for three academy awards and nine golden globes (winning one), and those 'bedroom eyes', on the list!

14. Channing Tatum , actor, producer, dancer (magic mike, drool), and model. Hes got it all. Sexy as f**k, in a thousand (slight exaggeration) diverse awesome movies. Look at that body!

15. Johnny Depp , named sexiest man alive twice by people magazine, highest paid actor and plenty of diverse film roles. Main character roles in eight Tim Burton Films, and a music history. is it any wonder why  i love this guy!

16. Isaiah Mustafa , The Man Your Man Could Smell Like! Thank you Old Spice! I honestly don't know much about him, but what I do know is he's making my list.

17. Robert Pattinson , his charming good looks, english accent and amazing piano skills land him on my list. I was never a Twilight fan but because he's also not a fan, that just makes him look better in my books. Dior, J'adore!

18. Hugh Jackman , he's best known as Wolverine in X-men series. He's Australian and has that rugged, manly look to him that women just can't resist! Not to mention his role in Les Miserables and hosting the Tonys (three times!). I love you Hugh!

19. Ian Somerhalder , HOTTIEEE! Of course I couldn't forget this bad boy! He's perfect! Oh, and yea maybe I should mention he's big on saving the planet, has major role in TVD and had a major role in Lost.
What do you think, is the picture too much?

20. Chris Hemsworth , 30, Austrailian and definitely my type. He speaks for himself and whats not to love about his caveman like attitude in Thor/The Avengers. Sigh, where can I find one???

21. Liam Hemsworth , at 23, hes one of chris' younger brothers and I can tell good looks run in the family. Recently single so that's a plus and a big role as Gale in the Hunger Game series.

Well that's my list! I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! I DID ;)
